What is Google Workspace and How to Use It

Google Workspace is the set of productivity tools formerly known as G Suite, and that recently, Google has decided to open to everyone. In short, it is a workspace that integrates Gmail, Google Docs, Google Meet, and other tools.

Google Workspace is now available to all users who have a Google account, not only to companies as it was previously. It is a set of tools that replaces and unifies G Suite, focused on business communication, joint work, and productivity. Company workers can access and work on documents in a group, even if they are very far from others. So it has a series of tools such as chat, email, voice, video calls, content management, and organization.

More specifically, within Google Workspace are the main Google applications such as Gmail, Google Docs and all the office automation apps of Google Drive (including Drive itself), Google Cloudsearch that allows intelligent content searches, Google Calendar, Google Meet and Chat, Sites, Google Keep, Jamboard, Apps Script, Google Vault, and Connection Point, from where it is possible to manage all the devices that are part of an organization.

In addition to offering free Google Workspace to all Google account users, the company has also announced the following updates to its applications, some of which are already working:

Preview of links

When working on a Google document, users will preview the content that contains a link. For example, by linking to a Google spreadsheet, it will be possible to see what it contains.

Smart Chips

When working on a collaborative document and mentioning one of the group users, a contextual menu appears with information and suggested actions, such as the possibility of sharing the document.

PiP mode in Google Meet

Basically, it allows you to start a video call with all the people collaborating on a document in Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Instead of accessing Meet, you can make the call in a pop-up within the document itself.

Creation of documents in rooms

This update is not yet available. Google has announced that it will arrive in the coming weeks. It will allow creating a shared document directly from a Chats room. There will be no need to open a new tab to take notes. You can do it from the chat.
